Renua Energy Completes 276.65 kW Rooftop Solar PV Installation in Kingston, NY

Renua Energy successfully completed a 276.65 kW DC rooftop solar PV installation in Kingston, NY, delivering a high-performance renewable energy solution on behalf of Solect Energy at Lia Honda. Completed in December 2025, the project reflects Renua’s ability to execute efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality, safety, and long-term system performance.

A Growing Push for Rooftop Solar in the Northeast

Solect Energy continues to expand its presence across the Northeast, with a growing focus on rooftop solar and battery projects. As demand increases for distributed energy solutions, projects like this one play a key role in helping commercial properties transition to more sustainable and cost-effective energy systems.

For this installation, Renua Energy was tasked with bringing the system from design through commissioning—ensuring it met both performance expectations and a strict year-end deadline.

Balancing Deadlines with Real-World Challenges

From the outset, the project was driven by timing. Completion before the end of the year was critical for securing project incentives, leaving little room for delays. At the same time, the team faced one of the harshest winters the Kingston area had seen in over a decade.

Snow and ice buildup regularly slowed progress, limiting safe working conditions and reducing available installation time. On top of that, the rooftop itself presented constraints, requiring adjustments to the system layout to accommodate venting and other structural elements.

Rather than allowing these challenges to derail progress, the Renua team adapted in real time—keeping the project moving while maintaining safety and system integrity.

A Flexible Design and Strategic Approach

To ensure optimal performance, the system was built using Elite Solar modules, SolarEdge inverters, and a Unirac racking system. The installation was designed to tie directly into the building’s electrical system, creating a streamlined and efficient integration.

As rooftop constraints became apparent, the layout was modified to work around obstructions without compromising production. Close coordination with Solect Energy allowed decisions to be made quickly, keeping the project aligned with both technical and scheduling requirements.

Executing Through Winter Conditions

Under normal circumstances, a project of this size would typically be completed within two to three weeks. However, winter conditions required a more flexible approach.

Renua maintained strict OSHA safety standards throughout the installation, establishing designated rooftop work zones, controlled loading areas, and proper safety fencing to ensure a secure working environment. Even with weather-related delays, the team continued to make steady progress, adjusting workflows as needed to stay on track.

That ability to adapt ultimately made the difference, allowing the project to be completed in time to meet critical year-end deadlines.

Delivering Long-Term Performance and Value

The completed system totals 276.65 kW DC and consists of 503 high-efficiency solar modules. Designed for durability and long-term performance, the system provides a reliable source of renewable energy while helping reduce operational energy costs.

Beyond immediate savings, the installation supports broader sustainability goals and contributes to the ongoing transition toward cleaner energy across the region. With integrated monitoring capabilities, system performance can be tracked and optimized over time.

Strengthening Partnerships Through Execution

This project also marked an important step in the working relationship between Renua Energy and Solect Energy. Successfully delivering under challenging conditions reinforced trust between both teams and demonstrated Renua’s ability to perform when it matters most.

That performance has already led to continued collaboration, with additional projects underway as the partnership grows.
