EV Chargers Pay Off for Whiteman Chevy
Whiteman Chevrolet is one of only five fast-charging stations in Glens Falls that is open for public use

Renua Energy’s EV installation at Whiteman Chevrolet in Glens Falls, NY was completed this past June,
and the project is already paying off for the Whiteman dealership.
David Schneider, recent adopter of the EV lifestyle, was traveling through the area and stopped into
Whiteman Chevrolet to charge up. He expressed his gratitude to have found the fast chargers in good
working order, stating, “I was very thankful to find this fast-charging station. It took about 10 seconds
for me to start the charging process and worked exactly in the amount of time as predicted.” Mr.
Schneider was traveling from Montreal to New York City, and this was the most convenient location for
him to access a high-powered DC fast charging station off the Northway and saved him time and kept

A level-3 direct-current fast charging (DCFC) station typically takes between 20-30 minutes to charge an electric vehicle’s battery to 80%, while level-2 chargers can take anywhere from 2-10 hours to charge a battery to the same level. Schneider commented how in his experience, there are not enough fast chargers
available. “I don’t have two hours to spend charging 15-20%. [Level-2 chargers] are fine for your home
but not day-to-day life.” He went on to say that he hopes to see a future where fast chargers are as
common as gas stations.
Whiteman Chevrolet is one of only five fast-charging stations in Glens Falls that is open for public use;
one of those charging stations serves only Tesla vehicles and another is accessible only from the
northbound interstate, leaving three stations available for Schneider’s use. Dave and his team explain
that not only are the charging stations atiractive to EV owners like Mr. Schneider, who are looking for a
fast turnaround, but they are also an additional revenue stream for business owners. And for car dealers
such as Whiteman Chevrolet, having charging stations onsite gives them an edge in electric vehicle sales
as the market picks up pace.
